Vegetable Stir-Fry Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, snap peas, mushrooms, etc.), chopped
  • 1 cup firm tofu or chicken, diced (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (or vegetarian oyster sauce for a vegetarian version)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for a thicker sauce)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:

  • Wash and chop all the vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
  • If using tofu or chicken, dice it into small cubes.
  • Mince the garlic, and grate the ginger.

2. Make the Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can add cornstarch to this mixture and stir until smooth.

3. Cook the Tofu or Chicken (Optional):

  • If using tofu, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add diced tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides. If using chicken, cook until it’s no longer pink in the center.
  • Remove tofu or chicken from the pan and set aside.

4. Stir-Fry Vegetables:

  • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the chopped vegetables and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.

5. Combine Tofu/Chicken and Sauce:

  • If you set aside tofu or chicken, add it back to the pan with the vegetables.
  • Pour the sauce over the tofu/chicken and vegetables. Toss everything together to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

6. Season and Garnish:

  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions.

7. Serve:

  • Serve the vegetable stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles.
